Three Big Milestones Today!

Okay, actually two of them are more mommy milestones than baby ones...

First, today is J's one month birthday!  I can't believe he's already a month old... he's growing up too fast already!  He is pretty much the best baby ever, and the most handsome.  :)  This mothering thing is amazing and wonderful and I wouldn't trade him for the world, but it's also a lot harder than I expected.

We spend a lot of time like this:

I'm sure part of that is because of the c-section, but I think a lot of it is totally normal too.  Women (or girls) who think that having a baby will make their lives and relationships perfect need to think again.

I heard a new mom asking when her life would return to normal after the baby and a seasoned older mama told her that this *is* her new normal, so she'd better get used to it.  I think there's a lot of wisdom in that.  Our lives will never be like they were before, but that's not a bad thing.  J has changed our lives and hearts forever, and we are so thankful for such a blessing.

Anyway... back from chasing that rabbit.

Milestone #2 is that J and I got out of the house together for the first time today just the two of us!  I was nervous but he did WONDERFUL!  We went to the chiropractor (whom I just adore, she treated me during pregnancy and has adjusted him a few times now and she is just amazing) and he was so alert and content the whole time.  Well, he started to fuss a time or two but sucked on my finger for a while and was fine.  I am so proud of him.  He does so good in his carseat too, he usually just either enjoys the ride or falls asleep.  That was the first time I'd driven since he was born, too.

And Milestone #3 is a total shameless brag... I wore my pre-pregnancy jeans today!  Woo hoo!  Breastfeeding is the best weight loss program ever!  How else could you sit/lay on the couch nonstop for a month and still lose weight?  I'll also put in a plug for postpartum belly binding.  Here's a website explaining it. I can't speak about that website's specific product, I just took one of J's receiving blankets and tied it around my waist really really tight, but it REALLY WORKS!
