Watching those ATEC scores drop!

In an effort to get back in the habit of blogging more often ever, I'm writing a short blog post about this instead of just a sentence on facebook. Hooray for blogging!

Okay, so what is an ATEC score and why am I excited about it dropping?

ATEC stands for Autism Treatment Evaulation Checklist. It's a long questionnaire that gives a standardized number on a scale of 1-100 to the nebulous question of how autistic someone is, with 0 being not autistic at all and 100 being the most severe. It measures this in four categories: Speech/Language Communication, Sociability, Sensory/ Cognitive Awareness and Health/Physical/Behavior.

Jude's autism doctor (a DAN! doctor) has us complete the ATEC before every visit so she can have a measurable indication of how he's doing since his last visit.

Before our first visit in January, Jude scored a 94.
Before our second visit in May, Jude scored an 86.

She was so impressed that he'd dropped so many points in just a few months! Now I can't wait to see what her reaction will be next week when she sees his latest score. Are you ready for it???

Before our third visit in September, Jude scored a 71!!

We are so proud of him and all of the progress he's made lately!
