We are back in the Hospital

(I hope this is coherent, I'm on some pretty strong painkillers.)

So night before last, immediately after dinner I developed really severe cramping in my stomach. I mean worse than labor kind of pain. Soon after that, my temperature dropped to 95 degrees and I started shivering uncontrollably. The pain came in waves, almost like contractions, and was made so much worse by the shivering. Stubborn me ignored my mom and husband's pleas to go to the ER that night, and the hurting eventually eased off, though it still came in waves throughout the night.

I felt better by yesterday morning, even though the muscles around my incision hurt like it was the next day after surgery again. Then I tried to eat an apple, got about halfway through it, and the pain came back. At that point, I decided it would be a good idea to see a doctor. We went to an urgent care place, but the doctor said she didn't have the equipment to deal with what I was describing, and recommended that I go to the ER.

So after waiting in the ER for what felt like YEARS, I was finally seen by a doctor. They did a CT scan and found fluid and an abscess in my abdomen, which means I have an infection from the c-section. Lovely. They admitted me to the hospital and were even nice enough to put us in the mother-baby unit. We may go home tonight, but it's looking like I'll be here a second night.

J has been with me the entire time and he has been the most perfect baby ever.

I hope I covered everything, it's taken me forever to type this because the pain meds have me falling asleep sitting up.

Baby Hutch is Here!!!

J was born today (39 weeks and 5 days) at 12:35pm!!!  He weighed 10lbs 3 oz, is 22 in long, and has a 14.25 in head.  He is the cutest, chubbiest little thing ever and we are so in love!!

Long story short:  My water broke last night like a tsunami in our bed! Contractions came on hard and fast pretty much immediately.  The midwife came straight over and I was already dilated to 6 cm.   I labored hard for 12 hours, but because of his unusual presentation (right leg straight down, left foot tucked behind right thigh) I was stuck at 8 or 9 cm, basically in transition, for about the last 8 hours or so.  His right foot was born and I was feeling incredibly pushy, but it just wasn't safe to push without being fully dilated because the head could get stuck in the cervix.

So, at the strong recommendation of all 4 amazing and knowledgeable midwives, we made the difficult decision to transfer to the hospital for a c-section.  I was disappointed and scared, but I wouldn't change a thing.  I know I did everything I could and this was just the way he had to be born.  I am so encouraged by the wonderful labor I had and how the contractions were actually pretty manageable the whole time.  I am also humbled by the incredible midwives who believed in me enough to even give me a chance for a breech home birth.

I still believe in birth and look forward to my future VBAC babies.  I can never express how much all of your prayers and encouragement have meant to me during this journey.

I will try to get a full birth story written out and posted soon, along with more pictures!

Power, Power, Wonder-Working Power!

Praise the Lord, we have power back on in our apartment!!  I know that four and a half days without power is a drop in the bucket compared to what many in Kentucky are in for... some sources are saying that certain rural areas of western Ky may not have power restored for a month or more... but when you are 39 weeks pregnant, having lots of serious braxton-hicks contractions, staying with friends, and can't reach your parents or in-laws by phone if the baby were to come, each minute seems like an eternity!  We were blessed by the hospitality of some amazing friends, though, who made the whole experience a lot more pleasant.

Here is the tree in front of our apt that was so beautiful and full when we moved in just over a year ago, but between the wind storm and this ice storm, it has really taken a beating:

img_0627

I am reminded of a quote that hung on the wall of the electric company where I worked for a while.  It was said several decades ago by an unnamed country man, telling his neighbors about the merits of getting their homes hooked up to electricity for the first time:
Brothers and sisters, I want to tell you this. That the greatest thing in the world is to have the love of God in your heart, and the next greatest thing is to have electricity in your house.

Can I get an amen??

Well, all of that said, Baby Hutch is still warmly curled up in my belly.  Since we discovered that our power was back on yesterday, I've been telling him that he can go ahead and come on out NOW.  I'm tired of being so uncomfortable and I'm ready to meet him.  I'm definitely all belly, which is good, but it's a LOT of belly!

img_0663

That belly is not an easy thing to lug around!  Hubs says I'm not really as big as pictures make me look, but I think he is just trying to make me feel better.  :)   Seriously, I'm ready for my baby to be on the *outside.*  I try to walk and keep busy to hopefully help things along, but I get so tired I can't do much of anything for very long without needing to rest!

I guess that's all... I'm off to clean the kitchen and try to get this little stinker to want to come out.  :)

37 Weeks Pregnant!

Holy smokes!  I just cannot believe that I am 37 weeks preggo!  I was telling a friend the other day that when I think about having been pregnant since May, it feels like I've been pregnant forever, but at the same time it feels like it's flown by.

This is the point where it starts getting harder and harder to be patient.  I'm exhausted and so anxious to meet this baby.  Not to mention the fact that we want to be ready in case he comes any day now, but also be emotionally and mentally prepared for him to not come for more than a month.   That is hard!

We've been sleeping on the couches since before Christmas, and it's sooo much more comfy for me than the bed (and hubs sleeps better too since he can't feel me tossing and turning as much).  We just scoot the loveseat over so they are right up next to each other.  Fortunately he naturally sleeps really curled up, so we fit pretty good.  And when he wants to stretch out, his feet are always welcome over on my side.  :)

img_0502

I've been waking up about every 2 hours at night lately to potty and roll over (yes, just rolling over isn't as effortless as it used to be... it takes about 5 mins of readjusting all of my pillows and stuff) and reheat my wheat pack while I'm up.  That sucker (along with my wonderful chiro) has SAVED my back.  By the end of our Christmas visit home, I could barely function because my back hurt so bad and I would wake up crying out in pain about every 2 hours begging a groggy hubs to rub my back.  But since I've gotten back to the chiro and started reheating my wheat pack at night, my back has felt great.  Praise the Lord!

I saw the midwife on Thursday and now start seeing her every week.  Everything looked really great- my blood pressure was good, my iron was good, my weight is good (right around 151 right now... so if I'm counting 132 as my official start weight, then I haven't even gained 20 lbs yet!).  My belly measured 44 cm!  Woah!

Baby Hutch is apparently taking after his Mama's hard-headedness already and still not wanting to turn head-down.  It's still not a big deal since he's still got plenty of time to turn, but it is getting increasingly uncomfy for both of us.  He has NO room in there and is constantly pushing against my ribs, breastbone, and pelvic bones.  I know the poor thing has to be so squished.  The top of my belly is so tender and feels like it is bruised on the inside from his little head pushing so hard against it all of the time, and the skin of my belly is so tight it feels like you could pop it with a pin.  I'll have to make a separate post sometime about all of the different breech-turning things we've tried... some of them are pretty funny/odd.

Hubs took me out for my birthday on Wednesday and we had a really great time.  After fixing me birthday pancakes that morning, we went out for dinner to the Olive Garden and then bought my birthday present- a carrying case for the AMAZING new camera my parents got us!  :)  Of course since we were dressed nice I had to take pictures:

img_0498_2

The belly looks a lot bigger from the side:

img_0473_2

It's so funny to look back through all of the pregnancy pictures I've taken and realize that every step along the way I thought I was getting sooooo big.  Hahaha now I just laugh at the fact that I ever thought that!

Maternity Portraits!

While we were in town during Christmas, my cousin had a chance to take some maternity pictures for us and they turned out amazing!  If you are my friend on facebook, then there are a lot more posted there, but here are a few of my favorites:

31 Week Pregnancy Update

Wow... I'm in the single digit "weeks left" countdown!  I apologize for the very disjointed post, I'm just trying to remember all of the things I wanted to write about.

Here's my 31 week belly:
dscn3781_2

Things are going really well.  Baby Hutch is still breech and jamming his little head up under my right rib as I type.  :)  We've been doing some things in the evenings to encourage him to turn, but it's still pretty early.  I mostly just want him to turn because everybody says that mommy is MUCH more comfy once baby turns to head-down.  Right now it feels like I have a splint between my hip bones and my ribs keeping me from bending forward in the least.  The past few days he has been doing this thing where he is sitting on one hip bone and pushing his feet against the other, so that it feels like he is literally spreading my hip bones apart... talk about weird feeling!  He's moved out of that position for now though.

I think I've written before about how a lot of times he'll lay a certain way and my belly will be extremely lopsided.  Well I just had to take a picture of my belly at this very moment while I am typing this:dscn3782

Hahahaha it cracks me up!

Oh, funny story: for the past couple of months, every time Hubs preaches Baby Hutch just goes CRAZY inside- kicking and punching and stretching and moving, and then as soon as the preaching is over he stops.  We've started to joke that he is going to be very disappointed when he comes out and realizes that we're not Pentecostal!

My aunt and cousin threw us an adorable baby shower over T-day weekend and we were so blessed by all of the people who came!  Here is a pic of me showing off one of the cute outfits we were given, and dear sweet cuz helping me keep record:

dscn3758

I was finally able to weigh myself when we were home for T-day weekend and I've only gained 8 pounds so far!  I think Baby Hutch is sucking pounds from other parts of my body, which I am totally okay with!  I go back to the midwife in the morning and if there is anything worth writing about, I may post a quick update about the visit.  For now though, I HAVE to stop procrastinating and start on some things of much higher priority than blogging! :)

****

ETA:  Just a couple of notes from the midwife visit so I don't forget:
  • She confirmed exactly how I knew he was sitting in there.  Breech with his little butt on my left hipbone, head under my ribs.
  • My belly measured 37 cm.  Holy smokes!  That's almost the same size as a full-term belly!  She said she didn't feel excess amniotic fluid, and he doesn't feel bigger than he should be, so that's good.  She said part of it at this point is probably because of the way he's sitting, so he takes up more room in my belly rather than fitting down into my pelvis.  But I've consistently measured 3-6 weeks bigger since my first appt at 11 weeks, so this is just normal for me.
  • Good strong heartbeat, 120 bpm.
  • Blood pressure was good.  Can't remember the exact numbers.

I think that's it.

27 Week Picture and Painted Living Room!

I took several pictures of myself the other night trying to get a really good one.  I promised Mom I'd post this one to my blog (it's actually 27.5 weeks to be exact):

dscn3703_2

Man, I feel like I've really gotten a lot bigger just in the last week, which I guess is to be expected since I mentioned my ravenous appetite in my last post... I was suspecting a growth spurt in progress.

And in the background of the picture, you can see the awesome new color of my living room!  It's a gorgeous orangey-red (or reddish-orange?) called Autumn Ridge.  Mom came up for a visit this weekend and, after an exhausting day of shopping for the perfect pillows to which we could match the wall color, Mom and I tackled the room in just a couple of hours (gotta love one-coat paint!).  I could NOT be happier with the way it turned out, and I'm so glad she talked me into it. :)

6 Months Pregnant!

As of Saturday, I was officially 27 weeks pregnant.  The whole weeks-to-months conversion can be pretty tricky.  Some things I read say that 27 weeks is 6 months and the start of the 3rd trimester, some things say that it won't be until 28 weeks, and by my calendar, I think that it should have been 26 weeks.  So I'm averaging numbers here and saying that I'm officially 6 months and in the 3rd tri.  :)

dscn3677_2

(Okay the picture is actually from 26 weeks.  I didn't get a cute one this weekend.)

I just had another midwife visit this morning and she told me that I'm measuring about 3 weeks ahead, which is no biggie because I've been measuring big all along.  Everything looked great.  My hemoglobin was a little low (could indicate an iron deficiency), but the midwife recommended a different multi-vitamin and she is hoping that will take care of it.  I always thought that all vitamins were the same, but apparently a whole food vitamin is worlds better for you, so I got the Perfect Prenatal by New Chapter.  These are awesome because they also have probiotics in them, which help keep your good bacteria strong and protect against infections.  Click here to read more about why a whole food vitamin is so much better.

Baby is still breech, and he's getting big enough now that it's getting really uncomfy.  He's gotten quite fond of stretching out and jamming his hard little head up under my ribs.  Our midwife said to go ahead and start trying some techniques to encourage him to turn head down like playing music (or daddy's sermons!) through headphones at the bottom of my belly, inverting myself (hips higher than my chest) for a few minutes at a time, or putting something warm under my belly and something cold on top of my belly.  She's fine with doing a vaginal breech birth, but it would be best if he would get that little head down.

That's about all, I guess.  I need to get my new belly pictures on the computer and post another comparison sequence.  He's getting bigger!  I think he's going through a growth spurt or something because for the last week and a half or so I've been RAVENOUSLY hungry.  Like, look-out-world-I'm-coming-to-eat-all-of-your-food kind of hungry.

Oh that reminded me!  This past week I had my first comments from random strangers in public about being pregnant!  It was an exciting milestone for me because that means that I actually look pregnant now and not just moderately chubby around the middle.  :)  Monday, a cashier got onto me for trying to carry something that was pretty heavy, then yesterday another cashier said something similar.  (The first time was legit, but yesterday I was carrying a curtain rod!  How heavy did she think it was??)  I went to the KBC office for work on Wednesday and several people asked about the baby, and today when Mom and I were looking at vitamins, the store worker took one look at me and said that they had prenatal vitamins in that brand too!  I love it! :)

21 Weeks Pregnant

I feel like I've really popped out in the last two weeks, and I can't wait to see everybody at home now that I finally have a little something to show off! :)

Hubs finally got to feel some for real kicks on Thursday night!  He gets too impatient to wait for baby to kick, but I must have caught baby in the middle of aerobics because he was kicking like crazy.  I've found that he doesn't like the tight waistband of the maternity jeans I have, so when I wear them he kicks against the waistband all day.  He kicks quite a bit during the day anyway... all over!  I'll feel him way up high and then way down low and then over on each side... the other day I could feel him simultaneously in the top right and bottom left, he must have been stretching out as long as he could!  BabyCenter says that he's about 10.5 inches long from head to toes now, so that is entirely possible.  It's crazy to think that he's that big in there, but I know he's going to get much bigger in the coming weeks!

On an unrelated note, we watched Baby Mama on Thursday night and it was SO FUNNY!  We would be laughing so hard that we would miss part of a scene and have to go back and watch it again.  It's also clean, which we appreciated.  I really enjoy Tina Fey.

20 Weeks Pregnant!

I can't believe I am already 20 weeks pregnant... roughly halfway there (depending on when Baby Hutch decides to actually make his arrival)!

I was telling hubby the other day that it seems like the first trimester crawls by because you feel so sick and you know that your change of miscarriage is so much lower once you get past that 12th week.  But then after that you start to really enjoy it and it just flies by!

On Thursday morning, I was laying on the couch for a second and started pushing around on my belly to see if I could figure out how he was situated in there.  Then out of nowhere I SAW this HUGE kick!  I wasn't expecting to be able to see kicks this early!  I've seen them every day since, and it is just the COOLEST thing ever!  Hubby can't seem to be watching at the right to see them yet, but he still has about 20 weeks and they will only get stronger from here.

Here is a picture I took this morning of my little 20 week belly:

I am so excited!  This is so much fun!

18 Weeks and Ultrasound Pics

We had our big ultrasound on Friday morning... it's a boy!!

I haven't written much because I don't feel like there's much to write.  I didn't even take an 18 week belly picture because there's just not anything new to see!

I did feel the first, "oh that's definitely the baby" movements last Thursday at 16 weeks and 5 days, which was really exciting.  I have only felt him a couple of times since then.  It's funny, during the ultrasound he was all curled up in this tiny ball (which you can kind of see in the second picture) and the tech kept saying that he has plenty of room in there, he must just like being all curled up... which could explain why I still haven't felt much movement from him!  I'll be interested to see if he likes to sleep curled up like that after he is born.

Mom was here for the ultrasound (and for the rest of the weekend) and we had a fun time shopping for baby boy clothes.  It's crazy... of the 6 girls I know who are pregnant right now, 5 of us are having boys!  Who are all of our boys going to marry?? :)

Here are a couple of pictures of him.  First, a sweet little profile picture:
And here is a picture of his big 'ole foot.  Every time she would show us his feet during the ultrasound I would exclaim, "he has such big feet!"  You can tell in this picture how curled up he was.  From this angle he is completely upside down, you can see his leg go down from his foot to knee, then up to his bottom, and then you can kind of make out his body angled down and to the left.  I just can't wait to hold that sweet little man!

I originally didn't put the ultrasound picture of his boy parts up here, but I get so many searches for "18 week ultrasound boy" that I feel like I'm disappointing everybody by not having it, so here you go:

4 Months Pregnant!

All this week I've been having a lot of "was that the baby kicking or my food digesting?" moments.  If you've never been pregnant, that may sound kind of silly, but early baby flutters feel kind of like the bubbles you get in your stomach when your food is digesting.  I can't imagine that I would have such consistent digestive problems just this week, so I'm guessing at least some of those feelings are actually baby!  I still haven't had any for sure, "oh that's definitely the baby" moments though.

Also... check it out:

There's a little belly there!  How exciting! :)  I think it gets bigger as the day goes on, and this was taken after I got home from work, but I'll take whatever I can get.

Babycenter tells me that our baby is now about 4 1/2 inches from head to rump.  I know I'll look back on this when I'm 40 weeks and laugh, but 4 1/2 inches seems so big!  Especially to not be making very much of a belly yet.

I guess that's about it... Josh and I have both been fighting a flu bug that's going around, so we've both felt pretty puny this week and not really gotten much accomplished.

Pregnancy Week 15

I had my second midwife visit yesterday and it all went well.  My blood pressure looked great, I had gained 2 lbs since my last visit (which puts me at about 7 lbs below my pre-preg weight), and all of my test results from the first visit came back normal.

So then the midwife comes in the room and starts to feel my belly and she says, "Girl, you are either 20 weeks or you have two in there!"  In case you missed the news from the first visit, I was 11 weeks then and measuring 14 weeks, which was enough to prompt her to get me an unscheduled ultrasound to see just how many were in there.  The ultrasound tech looked all over that teeny little womb and we only saw one baby.  I'm also definitely not 20 weeks because I was charting when we conceived so I know that my dates are perfectly exact.  So ruling those two things out, she said it could be a fibroid and we would check for it at my next appointment.

The craziest part to me is that I have a 20-week sized womb but am still not showing!  I mean, I'm a little thicker around the middle, especially when I'm relaxed, but I don't have a noticeable belly yet.  That's just crazy.  This is how big a typical 15 week womb is:

And this is apparently how big mine is!

But at last month's ultrasound, even though my womb was measuring so much bigger, the baby was measuring exactly right, so I'm thinking I've got a 15 week sized baby in a 20 week sized womb.  He/she must have a lot of room to play around in there!

Other than that... I'm still moderately queasy most of the time and I still have no appetite.  I thought I was supposed to be getting into the second trimester everything-is-delicious phase!  But about the only thing I actually ever want is cucumbers in vinegar.  That's all I had for lunch today... I really need to force myself to eat something else soon.

Pregnancy Week 14

Three and a half months!  Baby is about 3 1/2 inches now!  That's about the size of a lemon.  :)

I was trying to explain to Josh the other day how my nausea had lessened, but was still there. It's like this whole time I've been mildly nauseated all day, and REALLY nauseous after I ate. But now, I'm only mildly nauseous all day. Which is still annoying, but a lot better than it was in the first tri.

This morning I weighed myself and thought, I really need to write down my weight progress somewhere so I will remember how it went.

Pre-preg I was about 132 lbs.

At 11 weeks I was 124 lbs.

At 13 weeks I was 122 lbs.

Now, at 14 weeks, I am 125 lbs.

So I have finally started to gain some! It's crazy though because all of the weight has been lost from my limbs, but I feel like I've still been getting thicker in my middle. I still don't have a baby belly, but I do feel a little pudgier... unfortunately, I think that's mostly from being too tired to get up off the couch after work for the last 3 months. But that is indirectly from the baby, so I don't feel bad about it! I have GOT to make myself get up and start walking though... hopefully now that Josh is finished tutoring and I have a tiny bit more energy, we will be able to start walking together after work and class.

Wow!

I don't guess there's much more to say. I go back to the midwife this Friday, so I will definitely report on that at 15 weeks!

12 Weeks!!!

I can't believe I am already 12 weeks along!  I'm in the second trimester!!  I took pictures this morning, but still can't find my camera cord (still nothing to see anyway), so hopefully I will find my cord by the time there is actually anything to see.  :)

Although you can't see it in pictures, I am starting to get the tiniest of bumps.  And by tiniest I seriously mean that I can't hardly even see it- I can mostly just feel it.  It is so low that it is below the waistline of my pants.  I started to be able to feel it at about 10.5 weeks by pushing around on my lower abdomen, and I can tell it is getting bigger already.  I don't have to push to feel it, I can just run my hand down my belly and there's a little bump!  It's so exciting!

Baby Center says that if I poke at my abdomen, baby will now squirm in response, even though I can't feel it yet!  Baby is just over 2 inches long now (a half-inch growth in just a week!) and weighs half an ounce.

I've had the tiniest of energy increases this week, and may actually feel like exercising if I didn't work all day.  My amazing husband told me that today my only job is to rest and he has been cleaning the kitchen and doing laundry all morning.  It really doesn't get any better than that!

People have been asking me lately if I have a feeling one way or another about the baby's gender, and you know, I really really don't.  Even if I did, I probably wouldn't trust it because I really thought it was going to be twins!  We will just be so delighted either way that we really don't even have a preference.

I need to get some books about natural childbirth and start reading or else I know that time is going to slip away from me.  I really want to at least read:

-The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth, by Henci Goer

-Ina May's Guide to Childbirth, by Ina May Gaskin

-The Birth Book, by Dr. Sears

and

-HypnoBirthing, by Marie Mongan

I'd better get started!!

Ultrasound Pictures!

We had our first midwife visit today!

We first got to hear the heartbeat, and it was really strong and good. And then she said I was measuring about 14 weeks, which is about 3 weeks ahead of where I actually am (10 weeks 6 days). They normally only do one ultrasound at 20 weeks for the gender, but since I was measuring big she wanted to check to be sure how many babies were in there. Josh was nervous at the idea of there being more than one, but I would have been thrilled either way.

So we got to see our baby for the first time! Yes, baby singular. :) There is one healthy little baby in there! We could see him kicking and moving around, and the tech told us the heartbeat was 158 beats per minute and that baby measured just right at 4 cm, which is 1.6 inches and apparently perfect for where she is supposed to be.

Anyway... here are the pictures! It's kind of hard to tell what you're looking at if you weren't there. In most of them the baby's head is to the right and his feet are to the left (notice how I use the gender pronouns interchangeably? We don't know the gender yet but I refuse to call my baby an "it").

Here is a profile view of baby's face:

Here baby had his hand up by his face, possibly sucking his thumb!

This one's a little abstract, but it is a view from above, and you can see baby's head and she has her arms out in front of her, holding her own hands:

This is a full body picture of baby sort of from behind. If you look closely you can see the spine:

And last but not least, tiny baby fingers! You may have to click to see the big version to see this one, they are on the right side of baby's arm:

10 Weeks: My Husband Has My Symptoms

So technically I'm 10 weeks, 3 days, but who's counting? :)

While I'm green around the gills all day long and repulsed by any and all food, my husband has developed some really strange pregnancy cravings.

Last night for dinner all he wanted was a hard-boiled egg and pickles, and then about an hour later he was craving ice cream so bad he had to make a Kroger run (I knew we shouldn't have moved right across the street from Kroger!) to get some.

I honestly meant to post some 10 week pictures this weekend, but I can't find my cord to connect my camera to the computer! There's still not anything to see though. I really do feel thicker and my pants are getting tighter, but when I look in the mirror there isn't anything there! What's up with that?

We go to our first midwife appointment on Friday morning to hear the heartbeat and I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED! I'll definitely let you know how that goes!

Speaking of the midwife, we didn't really think it was that big of a deal, and it just hadn't yet come up in conversation with our parents. Well last weekend my parents and I went to church with Josh's parents and his mom said, "I had to find out from Celisa (my really close friend's mother-in-law) that they were going to a midwife!" To which my mom replied, "Oh yeah, well I had to find out from you just now!" Hahaha it was hilarious!

And to answer the 2 questions that come up most often about a midwife:

Why a midwife?

OB/GYNs are great when they are needed for surgery, but truth be told, most don't know a thing about a normal, natural birth. If you are going for normal, natural, intervention-free (and I am), then a midwife is the best way to go. And even if you want pain medications, midwives can still do that. Having a midwife dramatically reduces your chances of having a c-section.

Are you having the baby at home?

No, it will be in a hospital, and there will be doctors nearby in the rare case that something may go wrong. Although if I had my way I would have it at home, but that's a rant for another day. :)

I guess that's about it for 10 weeks. Still really queasy, still really tired, still no belly, but the heartburn is already starting to kick in!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Edited to add: It's official... I AM getting thicker! I thought my pants were getting tighter, but had no hard evidence. Well, I have a pair of dress pants that were so big I could barely keep them on pre-preg, but I put them on for the first time in a long time today and they fit snugly! My belly isn't getting any bigger but I'm getting thicker in lower part of my abdomen, if that makes sense.

Hilarious Pregnancy Cartoon

I found this on someone else's blog today and it is SO me. :)  If you have seen me in person or have seen my belly pictures (which I still need to post my 8 week pictures... the internet was being slow Saturday and I never got back to it), then I'm sure you'll agree.

Pregnancy Week 8

8 weeks... Two months!  Only 7 more months to go until we get to meet our little blessing!

I've had a little bit more energy this week... and by "a little bit" I mean that I've been able to come home from work, lay on the couch all evening watching TV and reading, and then go to bed between 8 and 9 (as opposed to falling asleep on the couch as soon as I get home).  I've been really emotional this week, too.  I feel like I could bust out in tears at any moment, especially when I'm really tired.

As I posted the other day, I am CONSTANTLY starving but repulsed by all food!  The only things that have set well on my stomach lately have been salads, pecan spinwheels, dill pickle spears, and some cheapo oat and honey granola bars.

Baby Center says that our baby is about the size of a kidney bean this week, and is constantly moving and shifting around in there, even though I won't feel that for several more weeks.

Josh and I have been throwing around a few baby names already.  We have a girls name that we both like, but we're going to have a lot harder time agreeing on a boys name.  There are just too many good ones!  I've vetoed his top choice (Joshua Caleb Jr.) and he has vetoed my top choice (Oliver), so we'll see what happens!

Do you know what it feels like...

To be CONSTANTLY starving but repulsed by ALL food?

I do.
