Feature Friday: My Old Kentucky Home Giveaway

All of the news about the derby last weekend got us missing our old Kentucky home. I have to be honest, we both tend to be a little overly nostalgic and sentimental about places we love, and we really love Kentucky.  So I decided to channel that longing and see what I could find on etsy to honor the bluegrass state. Of course, I found several awesome things.

*There are several coupon codes offered here that you won't want to miss, and a great giveaway at the end!

First, I found a precious bamboo I Heart Kentucky necklace from Stevie at Truche:

I love it. This would be perfect for someone like me who, as she puts it, is transplanted and proud. She will make a necklace for any state or country, and she also makes them in gorgeous fine silver. You can also find a wide assortment of beautiful handmade jewlery in her shop that is not as state specific. You really should go check it out, because right now you can get 10% off anything in her shop with the code YOUROCK. And while you're there, why don't you tell her thanks, too?

I couldn't help but love this simple, distressed wood wall hook by Rick and Liz at OldNewAgain:
They make these in every state and just about every color you could want. I really, really love the distressed look. On the silver, it makes it look almost metallic. Very sleek for the Kentucky man in your life. Most of the other colors are a softer, more shabby chic style. I could say a lot more about this shop, which is why next week I will be featuring their entire shop and offering an amazing giveaway! You really won't want to miss it!

When I saw this original painting of the Kentucky Hilltop Farm by Nancy at the Painted Sky, it nearly took my breath away:

Doesn't that make you feel more peaceful just looking at it? I can almost hear the birds singing from a distance. I love it. All of her paintings convey a sense of tranquility and beauty, and until August 1, Nancy is generously offering 15% off anything in her shop just for My Messy Manger readers! Just enter MMM15 at checkout and, as always, tell her thanks while you're at it.

Next, I found this great print of the Louisville Skyline from Jose at birdAve:

Isn't that awesome? When we lived in Louisville, it was always such a treat to drive across the river and enjoy that very view. He has so many funky prints that I just love, and I could say so much about them, which is why you need to stay tuned because in two weeks, I'm going to show you some more of his prints and he will be offering a generous giveaway and coupon code!

I also really love this quirky old map of Kentucky from the 1930's by Stories & Divinations:

I love how it was pretty much just pigs and tobacco in western Kentucky, and that Covington was a bigger city than Lexington. The teal accents are a fun touch that would match my future kitchen perfectly. And for one week only, she has generously offered a coupon code for 20% off your total sale price just for My Messy Manger readers! Just enter KENTUCKY at check out, and tell her thanks while you're at it.

Maybe just Kentucky pride isn't good enough for you. Maybe you are proud of your city, hometown, or holler. Then Sandrine at Define Design 11's I heart My Hometown print is perfect for you:

You can choose from a beautiful pallette of colors, and she can put the heart wherever your heart lives. Louisville, Tolu, Monkey's Eyebrow, Dycusburg... anywhere you want. She offered to send us one as a thank you, and it was a hard call for us, since I'm from one small town, Josh is from another, and we've lived in a few other places. But after a bit of deliberation, we are really excited to get our I heart Louisville print! We have to be honest, as much as we love all of the places we've lived, Louisville really is where our hearts are... we love it there.

You may or may not know that Kentucky is known for its tobacco. It's getting scaled down as the demand decreases (which is a GOOD thing), but there are still quite a few tobacco farms in western Kentucky. You really can't beat the smell of the smoking dark-fire tobacco, which mixes with the smell of freshly harvested corn and makes the most amazing country smell ever. In college, I would drive around the backroads around Murray in the fall just to enjoy it. That's what I think of when I see this vintage linen postcard handmade into a notebook journal by heavensentcrafts:

Isn't that fun? She makes all kind of notebooks and journals from recycled items, from postcards to photographs and from children's book covers to floppy disks. And you really can't beat her prices; notebooks start at just $5.

But one lucky winner won't have to worry about her prices because she is giving away one $20 credit to Heaven Sent Crafts!

How to enter:
Go to Heaven Sent Crafts and tell me one item in her shop that you love.

Just for the record- I found all of these wonderful sellers on my own accord. With the exception of Sandrine, I haven't received anything from any of them. Sandrine has offered to send me a print as a thank you for featuring her, but that was only after I fell in love with her shop and told her I wanted to feature her. And I don't get any commission from any of their sales. As always, I just really love their stuff and I love to share stuff I love.

  4. went to heavensentcrafts and enjoyed looking at the many different journals. i think i "love" the vintage type nursery cards and rummy cards but my favorite item was probably the recycled journals from children's books with favs being "in john's back yard", "talking time", and "Bible friends"; (i like how she included part of the orig book in with the journal) i also thought the small scrabble journal would be good for keeping score when we actually play scrabble! thanks for the link.
